Jess was introduced to yoga asana as warm-up for her competitive dance practice in 2002. It wasn’t until moving west that she experienced her first formal yoga class. She loved connecting to her mind, body and soul in a way that was different from her dance training.
In 2008, she obtained her 200-hr yoga teaching certification in Boulder, CO. Jess noticed practicing yoga helped her breathe through the difficult demands of corporate job stress. Eventually the practice helped her pursue her dreams to become a mental health counselor and dance/movement therapist.
Throughout her graduate studies in Cambridge, MA, Jess taught yoga in various settings including gyms, schools, rehab centers, hospitals, parks and corporations. She enjoyed exploring the vast spectrum of applying yoga and its concepts to various physical bodies, mental ailments and emotional states. She valued witnessing how movement and breath connected all people to themselves in a deep and meaningful way.
Jess is excited to be so warmly welcomed to teach and play at Shiva Shack Yogi Playground. Here she shares her evolving, eclectic style that emphasizes breath, movement and inner observation through the miracle of our body's abilities. Come with an open mind, leave with an open heart.
